OUR EDUCATONAL MODEL

As the preschool staff, we primarily aim to educate students who are sufficiently qualified for the primary school education. Availability (readiness or preparedness) for further education can be defined as physical, emotional and mental readiness for all kinds of learning. During the completion of the systematic progress, children learn accurately and sufficiently without facing any emotional difficulties. In other words children facing difficulties in acquiring essential knowledge and skills until that time, can accomplish further learning steps easily.

The concept of preparedness which is defined as readiness for learning, considering the success is a wider concept than maturation for our department. For individuals, it’s essential to have acquired pre-knowledge, skills and attitudes primarily to do something. Preparedness (readiness for learning), thereby includes not only the terminology of maturation but also prequalification (proficiency) which is (essential) required to do something.

Our department supports the fact that % 70 of children’s personality and mental development is completed between the ages of 0 to 6. Our academic staff is also  aware of the contributions of preschool education in sequential school life. Preschool teachers know very well that the acquired behavioural patterns will be permanent throughout a child’s life and the education for kids in order to be “a good person and citizen” can only be taught between the ages of 3-6.

The preschool education implemented in our school, consists of the ages of 5-6 and is carried out in our nursery classes bounded to our primary school. Students educated at Yeşilköy 2001 Preschool are able to learn how to read and write %100 faster than the ones who haven’t been given preschool education and this fast learning process lasts throughout their lives.      % 80 of learning can be accomplished through reading, that’s why starting to read (meeting) books earlier determines their thirst for knowledge (learning speed). Considering this purpose, our first step is to search, determine and choose the most accurate and suitable resources broadly and is to provide our national curriculum with the activities relevant to the critical thinking steps. Children’s ability of natural inquiry peculiar to this age group is encouraged (incentivized) during the application of variety of activities. With different ways of expressing thoughts, their creativity is tried to be featured and they are taught to respect the diverseness (differences) between individuals.

The students accepted to our school considering the results of “Development and School Maturity Tests” carried out by the  Counselling and Guidance Department and our school psychologist are supported before they start first  grade during summer holiday.

Our vision is to equip our students with the following skills:

ü  Self-identity, acceptance, affection

ü  Independent decision making (to be able to move independently)

ü  Accurate self-expression

ü  Perception  of ethical values and norms

ü  Acquisition of the fundamental structures and rules of  foreign languages besides their mother tongue
